Initially, I didn’t know this. However, after spending over 15 hours researching successful resumes, putting in effort to create a well-written resume is crucial.

You may already have a resume created. However, do you know how to utilize ChatGPT to write a stellar resume? In this short article, you will learn how to use ChatGPT to write an impressive resume.

How to Write an Impressive Resume

If you have a resume already, skip to step 5 

1. Identify your specific target role (ex: Marketing Manager)

2. Plan. Write out your education experience on a Google doc. Then, write out your current work experience—the company and role. You’ll come back to this.

3. From the top of your head, identify some skills you have that are relevant for the role. Don’t worry; you’ll add more to this list later on.

4. Now, go back to your work experience and fill in what you remember about your role but do it in the Google XYZ Format. You can write sentences or do a few notes, whichever you prefer.

The Google XYZ format looks like this “Accomplished [X] as measured by [Y] by doing [Z]

5. Now, here is where we use ChatGPT. Copy and paste this.
   
   I want you to act like a professional resume writer. As a resume writer, your task is to create effective and visually appealing resume for me. I will provide you with my current resume. Make sure to follow Google’s XYZ's resume format and suggest skills you think I should include in my resume based on my previous roles and accomplishments.

   Make sure you post your resume between the quotation marks

6. Look for a resume template to input your information into. You now have your resume template and suggested skills based on your work experience. Feel free to include the new skills on your resume that you have. This is the resume template I’ll be using for this demonstration; here’s the link. 7. Begin inputting and personalizing! Start inputting the data from ChatGPT and make the resume personal to you.

After you’ve completed this, this is how your resume should look. Most resume guides I’ve found online aren’t helpful. If you put in the time to have well-crafted bullet points, the results will be worth it. ChatGPT will then enhance your already well-crafted bullet points and make them better.
